The Japanese Folk Dance Institute of New York

Minbuza, formed by Momo Suzuki, is the professional performing arm of the Japanese folk dance Institute of NY. The purpose of the organization is to promote and keep alive interest in the traditional folk dances of Japan and by so doing, foster closer friendships between the Japanese and American peoples. Our primary function is the performing, teaching, and preserving of those authentic dances, performed by the ordinary working people of Japan. Some of our proudest achievements include performances at the Epcot Pavilion at Disney World's Florida, the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, and the Brooklyn Botanic Garden's Cherry Blossom Festival, as well as appearances on ABC's Regis and Kelly and Madonna's music video "Nothing Really Matters."
